During my interactions with Kōkua, I found the majority of responses to be helpful, even if there were occasional misunderstandings—like when it mistakenly assumed I had children. What mattered most was the reassurance that my feelings were valid and acknowledged. This connection to an empathetic voice, even if it came from a computer program, made a significant difference in my mental state.

While Tripp’s VR and mobile applications have been beneficial, Reeves emphasizes that these tools are not a substitute for professional therapy. Instead, they serve as a complementary resource for individuals seeking support. Tripp also provides connections to real professional help for those in crisis, ensuring that users have access to the appropriate resources when needed.
